Summer Driving: Practice Safe Towing

Summer is a big season for landscaping, traveling, camping, water-sports, and more. As a result, we often see vehicles on the road towing boats, trailers, campers, and other items. If you plan to tow, it’s essential that you prepare in advance, understand your vehicle’s exact towing capacity, secure your gear, and practice safe towing.

Towing makes it harder to accelerate or stop, especially if you need to stop suddenly. Increase your following distance, begin slowing down well in advance, and avoid last-minute braking or swerving at all costs.

You can find free resources for both commercial and residential towing online at the National Trailer Safety Institute website!
